Small businesses are among many of the First Nations retailers on The First Nations Collective, which is part of the Stockland Marketplace eCommerce platform.

Since May 2024, 14 First Nations owned businesses have joined the marketplace. The Collective aims to provide a hub for Indigenous retailers to grow their business from, while allowing customers to buy from verified First Nations owned and operated businesses.

The retailers are also participating in Stockland’s ‘Footprints into Retail Business Program’, which will give First Nations owned businesses opportunities across Stockland’s town centres and mentorship. It will also provide the businesses with training to grow and scale.

Stockland National Indigenous Engagement Manager Maree Ansey said the initiative is an action of Stockland’s Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to support the economic advancement and development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses.

“It really brings our RAP to life by providing early-stage and mature businesses with the support and resources to progress through the retail sector and contributes to closing the gap through meaningful economic participation,” Ms Ansey added.
