Committed sustainable living practices and holistic land management advocate, Ross O’Reilly has announced the launch of sustainable ‘tiny house’ accommodation at High Valley Dawn Permaculture Farm, offering travelers an eco-friendly, comfortable retreat.
Each of the four mini houses has been designed for maximum efficiency to accommodate up to four guests, with a queen bedroom and a single bed equipped with a trundle in the living room area.
O’Reilly, the farm’s owner, is a regenerative leader and environmental steward who is committed to minimising the venture’s environmental impact, and to this end the new homes are 100 per cent off grid.
“Guests can enjoy a truly sustainable experience, thanks to amenities such as composting toilets, solar power, and rainwater harvesting systems,” O’Reilly said. “By harnessing renewable energy and conserving resources, the farm aims to inspire visitors to adopt more eco-conscious lifestyles.
“Our new accommodation provides guests with the opportunity to reconnect with nature and experience our permaculture farm while minimising their carbon footprint,” he added.
High Valley Dawn Permaculture Farm is home a two-acre market garden and a two-acre food forest where fruit, vegetables, roots, leaves, herbs and spices are grown. While the forest is home to varieties from around the world, the produce reflects a particular emphasis on tropical Australian natives and bush tucker.
Alongside these amenities on the property itself – which also includes meeting the free-ranges animal that roam it and the opportunity to learn about renewable energy, water conservation, and minimalist lifestyle practices – visitors have the beautiful landscape of Central Queensland Capricorn Coast on their doorstep.
“Sustainability is moving out of the niche sector tourism and into the mainstream, and more consumers are making environmentally friendly choices than ever before,” Capricorn Enterprise CEO, Mary Carroll, said. “In 2022 the Expedia Sustainable Travel Study found that visitors are demanding unique and genuinely sustainable experiences and destinations, with 90 per cent of travelers now looking for green travel options when planning their holiday, and 74 per cent of travelers saying they would choose a destination based on eco-friendly practices.
“High Valley Dawn Permaculture Farm sits alongside Capricorn Caves and Pumpkin Island as advanced eco-tourism certified operators leading the way in this space across the Capricorn Coast region, making small changes that are having a big impact,” Carroll added.
